Bristol Lorries History

1908-1914 Mainly built buses but a few had been fitted with truck bodies

1913 Showed their first goods cars at the Royal Agricultural Show in Bristol – a brewer’s dray and a wagon for dairy create

WWI Supplied 18 automobiles to the RNAS betrwwn July 1914 and January 1915

1915 Launched the ‘W’ model

1920 The W model created in to the 4-tonner. The W model sold virtually 650 units with about 130 of these being in commercial kind.

1923 A two-ton model introduced and 267 were built in total

1931. Production of the W ceased

1932 On getting acquired by Thomas Tilling all production of lorries ceased.

1952 Made its first great car for the Road Haulage Executive, later to be British Road Services (BRS). The initial autos have been at the maximum allowed 22 tons.

1964 Production of goods autos ceased.

British Road Solutions (BRS)

April 1951 – The Business was established in 1948 as British Road Services (BRS).

It was the British road transport organization formed by the nationalisation of Britain’s road haulage business, under the British Transport Commission, as a result of the Transport Act 1947.

It inherited operations from the Transport Holding Co

By the 1960s was produced up of 4 primary operating places: British Road Services Ltd., BRS Parcels Ltd., Pickfords and Containerway and Roadferry

In 1969 it was renamed the National Freight Corporation.
