Yoshino – Elswick – 1892

Image by Tyne & Put on Archives & Museums
The cruiser ‘Yoshino’ was built at the Elswick shipyard in 1892. Right here a representative of the Japanese navy inspects the ship for the duration of construction. It was not uncommon for Japanese Navy officers to travel to Newcastle to see the work Armstrong did for them.
