C, October six, 1908.Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith a manuscript state-ment, ready in the Division of Production and Distribution, ofthe agricultural imports of the Netherlands and of the relative posi-tion occupied in this trade by the United States. Of countries thatreceive the agricultural exports of the United States the Nether-lands is fourth in order of value, getting exceeded only by theUnited Kingdom, Germany, and France. In recent years the UnitedStates has exported to the Netherlands agricultural merchandise whichwere in value about 3-fourths of that of the exports to France. In view of the importance of the export trade of this nation withthe Netherlands in the items of agriculture, it is respectfullyrecommended that this manuscript be published as Bulletin 72 ofthis bureau.
